Thank you for downloading Atomic Newsgroup Explorer (ANE)!
Some useful tips about ANE:
Atomic Newsgroup Explorer can connect to any NNTP server*. Just enter the server address in the main "Server" window and click "Start" to start processing the groups. You can find a great many of Newsgroup servers on the Internet, e.g. http://services.triceron.com/usenet/srvlist.php. The list of NNTP servers in ANE can store up to 23 addresses. New Servers you enter are added to that list.
Fill in user name and password (if you have ones) fields in Settings - > Internet Settings for the newsgroups requiring username/password access. Other ANE Settings usually do not need any changes.
To extract emails from news server you entered, its address must be valid and respond; either Newsgroup must be public (open) or you have to enter your username/password for accessing it; information and chosen groups are not hidden or empty.
As newsgroups audience is always growing and changing (cause retention time for messages is usually limited), you can search the same server and groups periodically harvesting more new email addresses every time.
You can create a MS Excel or MS Word document containing your search results automatically after the search. Use the "File" menu to save e-mail addresses in the necessary format. * The Network News Transfer Protocol "NNTP is a protocol for "Internet news, (or "Usenet news") distributing. This protocol is a completely different one to either electronic mail or normal W3 "HTTP" servers. It has the effect of broadcasting every message to (basically) every site. Just got started with your software and I'm really impressed with the
emails that it pulls. We've saved countless hours
using your software vs. manually harvesting these emails.
Thanks for the great software and keep up the good work! Chris
